Remarks made by President Trump during a speech have prompted speculation after he referred to having a lot of rich enemies and told the audience, This may be the last time youll see me for a while. The comments were made during an address Trump gave at the Whirlpool Corporation Manufacturing Plant in Clyde, Ohio.
So I have a lot of enemies out there. This may be the last time youll see me for a while. A lot of very, very rich enemies, but they are not happy with what Im doing, said Trump. And there are a lot of unhappy people, and theyre very rich people, and theyre very unhappy, he added.
In terms of who Trump was identifying as his enemies, the president made reference to wealthy anonymous middlemen who skim profits from pharmaceutical sales.
They are so wealthy. They are so wealthy, said Trump. Nobody has any idea who the hell they are or what they do. They make more money than the drug companies.

Caliman73
(11,738 posts)Trump is in fact a victim. He is a victim of his own stupidity and criminality. He just can't process those thoughts/emotions so he blames everyone else but himself.
My parents taught me that when there is a problem, you start looking for the causes internally first, as in, "What have I done to bring this chain of events into play?" Then you look externally, "What other forces are acting in this situation?"
Trump was either never taught that or he is so damaged emotionally that he cannot accept even the slightest weight of personal responsibility or his entire self view would collapse.
I do agree that nobody feels sorry for him. I could, and I do feel sorry for other people damaged in the same way the Trump is damaged. It is likely painful and scary to be in such a chaotic emotional mess. Trump however, is so destructive and has had the resources to try to heal his shattered self image but chooses to continue on this destructive path that I cannot bring myself to feel sorry for him.

Caliman73
(11,738 posts)It is difficult to determine what contributes, and in what degree, to psychopathy. The prevailing understanding is that it is a combination of neurological factors (I.E. Head injury) the wiring you speak of, environmental factors (emotional damage), and genetic factors (parents had mental illness, substance abuse in utero, etc..)
If you hear the accounts of what life was like for Trump growing up, and who Fred Trump was as a father and the absent mother, you can see where Trump's world view was established.
Emotionally damaged is a vernacular. The whole Trump family is messed up. Mary Trump's dad, died an alcoholic. The other kids have also not had very good lives. Donald Trump's kids are similarly messed up because damage is typically transmitted generationally both by genetics and interaction patterns.

Laelth
(32,017 posts)But I heard the audio. It appears that Trump actually did say, yesterday, that This may be the last time you see me for a while.
If so, I find that reckless. The President of the United States, even an emotional child like Trump, MUST be on duty 24/7. He cant just disappear. This is deeply troubling to me.

(65,038 posts)Middlemen were the guys who were legit (so to speak) that would help transfer cash from family to family.
They're not mob members, but they get a small cut.
Example: barbershop owner let's mobster A from family x drop off an envelope. Owner puts in safe.
Next day mobster b from family y comes in for a haircut. Owner gives him envelope.
He doesn't know what the $ is for, where it came from, why it's owed.
Two days later mobster c comes in, gets a haircut, pays barber $250.
The reason I know this is because my great uncle did this in SoCal in the 50s & 60s.

(28,347 posts)I see you've been a member for years, but never posted. A belated welcome to DU, and happy posting!
DU can be confusing at times, especially if you're tired or not feeling well.
I don't understand what you mean about "View All" not being secure. I click on "View All" and have no trouble.
Anyway, "Ask the "Administrators" is a good forum to ask and/or find answers. Our admins are very nice and helpful - and they want you to have a good experience here. They'll help you out any way they can.
Again, a hearty, yet belated welcome!
You've been wonderfully helpful by giving me that link -- thank you very, very much for replying with such kindness and understanding. When I actually click on (as opposed to just hovering over) "view all," I do get sent to the page which fully opens, but the url address box in my Chrome browser gives me a warning icon and message that the connection is "not secure."
A friend told me it *might* be because the "view all" url address does not appear to be of the "https" form which, by having the letter "s" in it, unlike the older "http," assures a safe connection, but he also said I should check with the site's tech staff. I hope you get a safe connection when you click "view all" (check the url address box to see if there are any warning messages or icons) and that what happens to me does not happen to everyone. Thank you again.

(3,243 posts)The Trump administration's announcement of a big loan to Kodak for pharmaceuticals has raised suspicion from the SEC.
"The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is investigating potential insider trading over the late July launch of Kodak Pharmaceuticals, a new branch of the old camera and film company intended to begin the process of bringing the production of drugs back to the United States.
Under the Defense Production Act, the Trump administration provided a $765 million loan to support the launch of Kodak Pharmaceuticals. The deal shot Kodak stock upward by more than 2,757%. But there was suspicious activity around this deal. The day before Trumps announcement of it, the Eastman Kodak Company gave its CEO, Jim Continenza, 1.75 million stock options. Indeed, since May, when talks with the administration about manufacturing the ingredients for pharmaceuticals began, Kodak handed out 240,000 stock options to board members."
