Vitalant, one of the nations oldest and largest nonprofit community blood service providers, supplies comprehensive transfusion medicine services to nearly 1,000 hospitals and health care partners for patients in need across 40 states.
June 30 I donated whole blood. Vitalant called 2 weeks later to tell me I was "antibody positive."
Which surprised me as I had no symptoms WHATSOEVER. Oh well.
So I made an appointment at 1:00 today to donate my plasma. After answering 45 questions, I was advised Vitalant couldn't and wouldn't take my plasma. Why? Because I had no symptoms of Covid. I countered that they determined I had antibodies and thus, it was a fact. And plasma is plasma. Would they have taken my plasma if I had been on a ventilator?
I'm taking my plasma to the Red Cross who have told me THEY'LL take it.
