Ratings show NJ-3 as state's most competitive House race
The Cook Political Report, one of the leading non-partisan analysts of federal races, views the 3rd district contest between freshman Rep. Andy Kim (D-Moorestown) and Republican businessman David Richter as the closest congressional race in New Jersey.
The 3rd district is ranked as a toss-up, according to updated ratings released today.
Cook views the 2nd district race between Democrat-turned-Republican Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-Dennis) and Democrat Amy Kennedy as Leans Republican, and the 7th district matchup between freshman Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-Ringoes) and Senate Minority Leader Thomas Kean, Jr. as Leans Democratic.
Two other incumbents are in the Likely Democratic column: Josh Gottheimer (D-Wyckoff) in the 5th and Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair) in the 11th.
The rest of the state House delegation six Democrats and 20-term Republican Christopher Smith (R-Hamilton) are considered safe.
