The VP pick is all anyone seems to be looking at right now but

has it occurred to anyone that Joe also has to pick a cabinet? Perhaps like President Obama (God that sounds so good) he will have a team of rivals? I can see Kamala Harris as Attorney General, Liz Warren as Secretary of Commerce, Senator Tammy Duckworth for Secretary of Veteran's Affairs and he will still need Sec Def, Sec State and a host of other top tier cabinet secretaries. Do we all think that the VP slot is all he's looking at?

So, given that there are so many talented people to chose from for all these slots who do you all think would fit those other positions?

I'd also like to see Hillary Clinton as a Supreme Court Appointment (wouldn't that own the Cons?) but sadly I would like to see appointees that will be there for 40-50 years.

that Senators will not accept cabinet positions because it is a "demotion" in terms of their political power and capital. I guess i can see that because when the president leaves town, so do you, and you have to start over at the primary level if you want to get elected again.

4. For the three senators you mention, those positions could be reasonably viewed as demotions.

Giving up a Senate seat, that especially Duckworth and Harris could hold for 20 more years if they desire, for a 2-4 year stint as a cabinet secretary probably doesn’t sound like a great deal.

I believe their ability to get good legislation passed is far more valuable than heading a bureaucracy will be.

The Clinton and Obama administrations trained up some mighty fine talent that can do those jobs. We can start with Sally Yates and Susan Rice......

It's ridiculous people keep trying to demote women in the Senate to cabinet positions.
