25 Rules of Disinformation

I came across this on the internet.
It seems like a useful playbook for the President of the United States right now.

25 Rules of Disinformation

1. Regardless of what you know, don't discuss it.
2. Become incredulous and indignant.
3. Describe all charges as mere rumors and wild accusations.
4. Invent a seeming element of your opponent's argument which you can easily knock down.
5. Sidetrack opponents with name calling and ridicule.
6. Attack of your opponent in public and then scamper off before an answer can be fielded.
7. Twist any fact to imply that the opponent has a hidden personal agenda.
8. Claim yourself an authority and present your argument with 'jargon' without discussing actual issues.
9. No matter what logical argument is offered, avoid discussing issues except with denials.
10. Associate opponent charges with old news.
11. Use a minor element of the facts, and 'confess" that some innocent mistake was made but opponents blow it all out of proportion.
12. Paint the entire affair as too complex to solve.
13. Alice in Wonderland Logic.
14. Demand opponents immediately solve the issue at hand completely.
15. Fit the facts to alternate conclusions.
16. Vanish evidence and witnesses.
17. Side-track the discussion with abrasive or controversial comments.
18. Chide and taunt your opponents to draw them into emotional responses.
19. Claim presented proof is irrelevant and demand impossible proofs.
20. Invent false facts designed to conflict with opponent presentations.
21. Call a Grand Jury to investigate but be sure it hears no useful evidence. Officially close the matter after a favorable verdict.
22. Create your own experts to deny opponent's experts.
23. Create bigger news stories to distract the multitudes.
24. Remove opponents from circulation by death, arrest, blackmail or destruction of their character or financial health.
25. If the the heat gets too hot, vacate the kitchen.

26. Repeat the lie, no matter how outrageous, with variations of the repetition to make it sound like it's coming from different sources.
27. Create alternative sources for propaganda that reinforce the lie by making it sound like there's different reportage.
28. Memes and soundbites are always more effective than detailed analysis for convincing the average person.
29. Gaslight - say something inflammatory, then deny ever saying something.
30. Denigrate your opponent's authorities, while promoting your own.
31. Most people are far better at (and are more receptive towards) gauging confidence than they are gauging competence.
32. Everyone loves a good conspiracy, because it makes them feel like they have special knowledge, are part of a special group, or are superior to the people around them.
33. The government is always the enemy. When you're in power, you're not really the government, you're engaged in fighting the forces of the shadow government.
34. All experts are intellectuals. Intellectuals are not to be trusted, because they are evil magicians capable of doing bad things to you, and filled with malice aforethought. Your experts are just ordinary people.
35. When a government is functioning properly, it's not very exciting, and people get the impression from this that the government in power is not doing very much. (Manufactured) crises provide the opportunity for gaining power by appearing to solve the problems that were already solved while promoting the current leadership.
36. People prefer leaders who are like them and those followers will also tend to mirror those leaders' actions. The more outrageous the actions of the leaders, the more outrageous the actions of the followers, until they pass the point of no return.
37. Remember that once you buy people, they have committed a crime and can be blackmailed.
38. No one likes to admit that they have been fooled until they are in the company of others who have also been fooled. Do not give people the opportunity to compare notes.
39. Never admit that you are wrong, and worse, never admit that you are culpable.
40. Always make sure that your aircraft is on the tarmac and fueled up if you need to leave town in the middle of the night..
