Any USPS workers on DU? Just heard that letter sorting machines are being removed

in Iowa, from a union source. Haven’t seen any news reports, so I’m wondering what you’re seeing at your post offices.

Found an independent news outlet refer to it, but no mainstream media.

is USPS retired, and he heard that they were turning off machines.

I've paid bills in plenty of time through my bank, but the payees say they haven't received them, even locally owned businesses.

Trump will have this economy slowed down to 1950s speed in dollar velocity if payments are slowed.

friend and foe alike. Republicans and big business will be affected by this lunacy in ways he obviously hasn't anticipated and that "great economy" of his will never recover. Whenever he tries to hurt his perceived enemies, it ends up hurting him. What a dope.

what is really ridiculous is the few businesses that are thriving during this pandemic, small and big businesses, are being adversely affected by the Postal Service meddling. Most sellers on Ebay rely on the Postal Service. Online businesses have had improved sales because people are staying at home, but without fast, reasonable delivery, they will fail.

I'm not sure if there are any businesses left for Trump to ruin. He is such a destructive force.

Once he realizes the USPS changes are not enough he'll do something even more unethical. This is full blown Roy Cohn mode, applied to modern conditions.

None of the historical parallels mean squat. If he knows the vote won't favor him then he has to alter or prevent the count. I guarantee they are scheming along these lines every day.

It's not doom and gloom to understand the opponent's way of thinking.

a small flat rate priority box.

I said will it get there in 3 days?.. He said.. "That used to be the way but not now..

I said.. I know.. and I know why. He just gave me a knowing look & a shake of his head behind his mask.

The USPS delivers upwards of 16 BILLION packages and Christmas cards between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I rely on the mail for prescription medications. They're set up on auto-refill. If they are delayed, I run the risk of running out of medicine for a serious but fairly rare heart condition. Using the mail is EXACTLY what I should rely on during a fecking pandemic.

Absentee Ballots (which are OKIYAR) and Mail in Ballots should be no problem. Are not a problem, until the GOP does the math. We've got two months to mail them in. So....

Fun fact: i mailed in a *request* for an absentee ballot for NC. Two days later, Mr. ONette and I both received applications for Absentee ballots because they were sent to all registered voters.

Fearful little cheaters, afraid of their own shadows

wasn't going to hurt republicans, there's plenty of evidence to suggest that it would have boosted turnout but not benefit any particular party.

However, what WILL hurt republicans is if the mail slows to a crawl. That's an every day kitchen table issue that is going to piss people off.
