Trump tries scaring suburban women; Biden tries to meet their real needs

Recently, Joe Biden’s campaign released his plan to help American families caring for aging parents. It was thoughtful and politically significant, particularly impactful in the era of COVID-19.

Large swaths of suburban women voters — a demographic over which Biden and Donald Trump are engaged in a fierce battle — fall into that “sandwich generation” of raising children while also caring for an aging parent. Biden is speaking directly to them, their needs to their real lives.

Compare and contrast this with what Trump is doing: doubling down on efforts to inflame racial hatred, fear and division by telling those same suburban women that the chief threat they face is the invasion of affordable housing, i.e., poor people who don’t look like them becoming their new neighbors.

It doesn’t get much worse than this: Trump is saying to “suburban housewives of America” that Biden “will destroy your neighborhood and your American Dream,” while promising them that under his presidency, they “will no longer be bothered or financially hurt by having low income housing built in your neighborhood.”
