Biden, Harris to deliver remarks on coronavirus pandemic (Today) as U.S. daily death toll rises

Former vice president Joe Biden and his running mate, Sen. Kamala D. Harris (D-Calif.), are in Biden’s home state of Delaware, where they will receive a briefing on the coronavirus pandemic and deliver remarks to reporters Thursday afternoon.

The event comes one day after the United States reported its highest number of deaths from the coronavirus in a single day since mid-May.

President Trump defended his administration’s handling of the crisis, saying in an interview Thursday morning on Fox Business Network that “nobody blames me” for the job losses and deaths caused by the pandemic.

“We got hit by the China plague,” Trump said, blaming the country where the virus was first detected. He continued to press for schools to bring children into classrooms, for businesses to open and for fans to fill stadiums to watch sports.

Vice President Pence, meanwhile, is heading to Iowa, where he will headline events for farmers and ranchers and law enforcement as well as the Iowa Republican Party’s Stars and Stripes Summer Dinner.

Another opportunity to upstage Trump? He really doesn't like to be reminded how disastrously he's handled the pandemic.
