The 'excess deaths' tally in the U.S. is 204,691 in 7 months -- so C-19 deaths might be undercounted

Opinion: The ‘excess deaths’ tally in the U.S. is 204,691 in 7 months — so COVID-19 deaths might be undercounted

The number of deaths in the United States through July 2020 is 8% to 12% higher than it would have been if the coronavirus pandemic had never happened. That’s at least 164,937 deaths above the number expected for the first seven months of the year — 16,183 more than the number attributed to COVID-19 thus far for that period — and it could be as high as 204,691.

Projecting from the past
To calculate excess deaths requires a comparison to what would have occurred if COVID-19 had not existed. - Marketwatch
Right up tRump's alley, I'd say. He's been all about hiding the truth during this dark period in American history.

We had shutdowns that greatly reduced traffic deaths and other accidental deaths. So Covid-19 deaths could be well over the 200,000 mark.

Oh, and we'll be over the 170,000 mark today, but Orange leader will saw something like 150,000 if asked about it, as if the President is given weeks old data regularly.

and flu pretty much vanished in early March, as soon as people started staying home and distancing. It wasn't enough to end the spread of Coronavirus, but it stopped the flu from going around.

He was in lock down in an assisted living facility and no one checked on him for months, other than to bring him his food. By the time he got his diagnosis he was too weak to survive chemotherapy. He didn't die of COVID, but cases like his could contribute to excess death counts.

we've got hundreds of institutions tracking Covid but excess deaths tell a more complete story

They're different.

In late April a bunch of reports said that ER visits due to heart attacks and stroke were way, way down. No reason for the actual incidence to be lower; what was happening is that people weren't going to the ER because of COVIDophobia and dying at home.

It's the excess deaths stupid. Seriously, we have tens of thousands (moving into hundreds of thousands) of deaths not attributable to the usual causes. Call them whatever you want, but something is killing people. Wonder what on earth it might be?

...mostly actuaries, say it's more than 30% greater than reported.
I don't disagree with the premise, but I think unanticipated deaths is more than 205,000.
Likely closer to 215,000.
