Kudlow: Money for voting rights is a 'really liberal left' wish

https://www.politico.com/news/2020/08/13/kudlow-money-voting-rights-liberal-left-wish-list-394715

White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow on Thursday labeled voting rights funding a "really liberal left" wish list item, slamming congressional Democrats for their coronavirus relief package demands.

The comments from a top administration official came hours after President Donald Trump explicitly tied blocking funding for the U.S. Postal Service to stopping universal mail-in voting during November’s election.

During an appearance on CNBC, Kudlow championed Trump’s recent executive orders aimed at easing the economic burden of the pandemic and criticized Democrats for failing to reach a deal on a legislative package.

"They are asking too much money, $3.5 trillion, we have already spent over $3 trillion,” Kudlow said. “So much of the Democratic asks are really liberal left wish lists — voting rights and aid to aliens and so forth.”

The HEROES act, crafted by Democratic lawmakers, allocates $3.6 billion for states to go toward election management. The measure passed the House but has not gone through the Senate.

Democratic leaders said Friday that the White House rejected an offer for a roughly $2 trillion coronavirus relief package.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said that as part of a closed-door Thursday meeting, Democrats offered to reduce their $3.4 trillion price tag by $1 trillion if Republicans would agree to raise their roughly $1 trillion package by the same amount.

That strategy, effectively trying to split the difference between the two sides, would result in legislation costing between $2 trillion and $2.4 trillion.

"'We'll take down a trillion, if you add a trillion in.' They said absolutely not," Pelosi said during a joint press conference with Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Friday.

What kind of American says they don't want part of the population voting in this modern age?
