House GOP leader says Congress will 'make sure' postal service is funded

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said Friday that Republicans do not support withholding funding from the U.S. Postal Service and, in a break with Trump, urged voters to cast ballots by mail.

“The Postal Service will have the funding that it needs,” McCarthy said in an interview on CNBC. “We will make sure of that. We want to make sure we have an accurate election. I think any Republican that gets their ballot in the mail should vote and make sure their vote is counted.”

McCarthy noted that Trump on Thursday said he would not veto legislation that does contain the extra funding to support the Postal Service even as he rails against it.

In an interview Thursday with Fox Business Network, Trump said he opposes a $25 billion emergency injection sought by the U.S. Postal Service, as well as a Democratic proposal to provide $3.6 billion in additional election funding to the states. Both of those requests have been tied up in congressional negotiations over a new coronavirus relief package.

The Lincoln Project told all their NeverTrump followers to call their Senators and House Reps about the USPS and tweeted out phone #'s .
Republican reps will pay more attention if the complaints come from Republicans in their district.

either fill it out and hand walk it to the county supervisor or elections, or take it with you when you early vote - turn it in and ask for an early vote ballot.

Of course the House will make sure the USPS is funded; you're not in charge there. What about your compatriots in the Senate? And where are the House Republicans in all this? Why aren't they out there in public working for the right of all citizens to vote? Instead, House Republicans are preoccupied with suing imaginary cows.

no matter what kind of bill they pass. McConnell wasn't just screwing people over covid by adjourning, he was helping Trump submarine the USPS before election day.

persons who rely on the Mail Service tend to be in Rural Red America. Wondered just how long before some Rethug had to speak up.

BTW,those Rural Areas are prime Box Holder Mailers for the GOP. Do not think for a new york second, these Rethugs will let their reelection mailers not get delivered.

Now saying he WILL sign a relief bill with $ for USPS.
Probably was made aware the bill would pass veto proof.
