House rules require 7 days notice of any hearing.

They also need to have time to prepare for it - this is going to take a lot of research, preparation, and coordination. They can't just tee up a hearing for the next day and wing it. One week is a REALLY quick turnaround for any hearing, especially a hearing of this importance.

It's also good that it's not happening in the middle of the Democratic convention, thereby stomping all over Joe Biden. Better to do it on the first day of the Republican convention.

It took six months to get Barr under oath.

Drop the subpoena on him NOW, with 24 hours to show up to answer questions.

Act as if the republic is at risk.

Because it is.

Moreover, as I noted upthread, all hearings require at least 7 days notice.

We really need to stop assuming that Pelosi and the House Dems don't know what they're doing or that they have less understanding of the urgency than we do.

...it could be a freaking six months to get him under oath, as it was with Barr.

I don't know if you watch twitter, but there's a raging firestorm demanding action.

Maybe they have, but stories I've seen say they "invited him."

Invites are for parties and honorable people, not putin scum.

witness to appear voluntarily.

People often disparage the "strongly worded letters," but they aren't sent because the House wants to be polite. They are an absolute prerequisite before a court will even consider getting involved.
