So last year Mittens donated over $4 million to charity, eh?

I'd be interested in seeing what those charities were.
I would be really surprised if there were ANY that weren't LDS related.
Personally, I don't consider the Mormon church a charity case.

And I don't know what his income was but it isn't inconceivable that it was close to $40 million.

So assuming he did the 10% thing it doesn't leave much room for anything else.

...on the recruitment of new members ('holy' missions), the construction of architectural monuments to themselves and the influencing of political causes dear to their hearts, than they do on helping the poor and the disadvantaged. So why is any of the money that is donated to them considered to be eligible for a tax write off?

I'm hearing this from pundits that say, "Oh, he's SO generous to charity". Bullshit.
He's keeping it all "in house" Mormon, I'll bet.

corporation conglomerate.

Not exactly what reasonable people would call giving to charity.

"The Romneys' tax bill could have been lower. They gave $2.6 million in cash to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the documents show. They gave just over $2 million in non-cash charitable contributions — including donations of stock holdings in Domino's Pizza, Dunkin Donuts and Warner Chilcott — to a family trust."

Just as I expected....kept their so-called charity "in church" and in family.

Yes, they care. They care so much about the "little" people.

And what percentage of their income is that? They make me sick.

If you belong to a Mega-Church and very little, if any, of tithing goes to charity then I agree. The church I attend has no building or outside "costs" beyond general operating and salaries/benefits.

0.75 cents of every dollar tithed goes to charity. Lots of local, some regional and some national/international.
