This convention is one of the best things I've seen all year.
We're 30 minutes in, and I've cried three times already.
This feels... hopeful.
For the first time in so long, I feel hope.

(2,458 posts)& Michele Obama @ the end. Bravo to the brave Republicans that spoke up! It was an accurate summary of how Trump's failed "leadership" has effected America & why change is needed...

(182,836 posts)With the change of the campaign and the NY Mag article on the campaign they need to go back in time. This this was started in at least May. Deep.

(4,484 posts)Unfinished set designs, plagiarized speeches, Ted Cruz going rouge, their firework plans not panning out, a fist fight in their VIP booth, unable to get any real celebrities, people like John Kasich not attending, not checking speeches before they were put in the prompter... so much more than I can type on a phone while trying to watch our convention on my tablet.

(4,484 posts)Speaking from the White House isn't going to save their convention nor will fireworks on the mall. You can't throw something like this together in a few weeks.

(4,484 posts)They have one advantage over us: they are willing to put an unlimited number of lives at risk.
I can see them trying to top this by bringing in crowds, or violating the Hatch Act. They have no morals. Their hearts are Godless.

I'm just amazed how so many fall for their schtick? I wake up everyday here in rural NC, and I'm like WTF?

(1,789 posts)They were hell bent on a regular convention to show everyone that the virus was over, then picked the worst state to have it in. Dems planned on virtual from jump street and it shows. GOP suckfest will be slapdash at best.

The RNC will not be showing such diversity. The message will be different for sure. I am liking what I am seeing right now.
Well done, DNC.

(13,043 posts)together. The virtual choir by the young people, the lovely host Eva L, the everyday citizens... very heartwarming and i hope Joe, Kamala & the entire team who worked on this know how much we are applauding their amazing & valiant efforts. This is so so critical that we win by a astounding landslide in 2 months.
BTW i'm getting Leon Bridges' CD. What a talented young man & that soulful voice!! He comes from my former backyard FW .

...him spew usual rw talking points. Damn he is one obnoxious sob [also referring to his Sunday morning appearances on ABC discussion panel]
Frankly, I'm sick and tired of all rw republican hate, racist propaganda and lies--just don't want to hear or see malevolent#45 or his ghoulish sycophants and/or repiblican pundits and/or gop--they're just too toxic!

(51,574 posts)It was so intimate, like Zooming with my friends. Honestly, I think Michelle's speech was more effective this way. She maintained eye contact the whole time, with no applause interruptions. It was riveting.

The first couple, Barack and Michelle, are beautiful. I am so grateful to have experienced this time. I hope to see something very similar in the near future.
