They are accepting ours. They dreamed of dismantling the institutions of government for decades. They never considered the possibility they would be dismantled. They cant reign in what they started on their own. Weve got the upper hand all we have to do is keep it.

(12,416 posts)I don't expect them to suddenly embrace Dem. values and policies, but we can accept their help in expelling the Mango Menace and his criminal organization from the WH.
Our Democracy is on the brink of disaster and if it means accepting the R's help in defeating this criminal, then I would accept help from any corner.
Like NurseJackie said in another thread, we're not marrying them.

(16,646 posts)This suggests not merely undoing what was done and going back 4 years and starting over. Both sides will want to go forward to fix things in different ways. They won't want to go back to aspects of the status quo which they never liked in the first place. And the truth is, there will be people in our own party that won't want to either. In other words, it's going to be a real mess. There be enough voters to agree that Trump is wrong, but it doesn't mean that we will agree on what is "right". As such, Trump will live on for a good long time.
I do think that democrats may have to accept that step one will be "fixing" anything that we can all agree upon, even if it leaves alot undone. As an example, we might have to pass a voting rights act, that won't necessarily say any thing about mail in ballots. We may have to "fix" the post office without addressing that immediately either. I do wish these republican groups would be a little more open about their vision for a Trumpless/Biden run government.

(16,646 posts)I suspect they want to be back in positions of influence, and to marginalize the Trump influence going forward. It won't be to move Democratic ideals forward.
