Fed up with anti-maskers, mask advocates are demanding mandates, fines -- and common courtesy.

Susan van Vonno has strong feelings about masks. At 82, with a compromised immune system, she has little patience for bellicose anti-maskers who refuse to cover their faces because they believe it infringes on their personal liberty.

“Do you want to be free, or do you want to be dead?” she asks.

So far, van Vonno has kept those feelings mostly to herself. But at a recent museum board meeting in Melbourne, Fla., she was one of only two people out of 10 wearing a mask. She said nothing at the time, but she wishes she had.

“I thought about it,” she said, “and I need to bring it up.”

In a country stumbling to control a rampant and deadly virus, masks are effective and popular weapons. Three-quarters of Americans favor requiring people to wear face coverings in public to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus, including 89 percent of Democrats and 58 percent of Republicans, according to an Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll in July.

We could have had this thing under control but for these dipshits who insisted that social distancing and wearing masks was some burden.

173 thousand deaths. Countless businesses ruined. And no end in sight because these dumb asses deny science.

And then they have the gall to go on tantrums and call us stupid? Fines and jail yes, but these idiots deserve to be shamed, fired and permanently banned from stores.

initiate a boycott against his store if he didn't clean up their act. I'll be back in a day or two to check in on him. If the store is still operating the way it was, he won't like me one little bit for his grief.

He was the bread guy in Big Lots, also in Melbourne. We established we're both from NY (he from Rochester and I am from LI), and he asked me if I was one of those 'liberals'. I laughed and told him he said that to the wrong person.

He didn't have a mask on and I did. He tried to justify it by claiming he could die from the flu; I told him to tell that to the 170K and counting dead Americans, then wished him a nice day. He did not respond.

I don't look for trouble, but do think he was being extremely selfish to not wear a mask when all employees and customers are mandated to do so by the store.

Now I wish I had been more aggressive in calling him out.
