to make the election look like a fraud.
Trump has the worst poker face of anyone I've ever seen.
When he begins spouting off about something over and over again, it means the GOPutin machine is working on creating said lie.
They used to be good at creating these lies because they would do it silently in the background; now Trump blasts it out over and over and over making it obvious what is about to happen.

(1,865 posts)Such as a bar code that is scanned when the ballot is received. This would make it highly unlikely fraud ballots would be counted since they would have nothing to match it against. And given Trump and/or Jared would be in charge of such a scheme, it would be as successful as all of Jared's other ones.

(1,206 posts)didn't meet the required criteria to be accepted, to try to "show" that there is in fact wide-spread fraud with mail-in balloting.
They're not sending them in to be actually counted - just the opposite, they'd get flagged as fake on purpose.

(1,865 posts)If they make fake ones, they will be caught by the counters. If the point is to send in fake ones to try to get past the counters, the likelihood of success is practically zero. And a trace back of the fake ballots will probably land you back at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. I guess I just have more faith that the people working the elections are not idiots.

(1,206 posts)It's not my plan, nor my OP.
But I do understand the feeling behind the expectation of some sort of identifiable voter fraud created to bolster what Trump and his administration has been (falsely) touting for weeks and will become a much larger issue once we get to November.
It's not hard to image that Trump won't pull out all of the stops to try to do as much damage as he can in an attempt to delegitimize the results in the minds of the voters.

(1,865 posts)I wouldn't put anything past Trump, lizard that he is, but I don't believe he has the skill set to pull it off. I mean this whole post office thing is Exhibit A. They thought they could just steamroll the shut down of the post office. Looks to me like it backfired spectacularly. I'm not saying it hasn't been damaged, but it seems a lot less likely that they will be able to get away with their plans.

(7,367 posts)Quite a lot. That may have been the intent all along.
but I've been voting absentee for 20+ years and I know for a fact there are ample safety measures built in to the process. I can track my ballot from the date it is mailed to me to the date it is received and tabulated.
There are plenty of voices out there (News people and Michele Obama included) who are working to counter the Orange assholes lies. Have a plan, have a backup plan and have a backup plan to your backup plan.
I am DONE with this bloviating liar and his lies about a rigged election. Pure, 100% projection.
This must end.

(3,572 posts)The ballots has to meet certain criteria:
1. First they have to be inside a valid security envelope. Expensive
2. They have to have a valid bar code. Time consuming and Expensive.
3. They have to match the bar code to the area that they would be voting. Time consuming.
4. They have to match the bar code to the area, and the ballot, and the person voting.
5. Then finally, the signature match.

(10,903 posts)Electronic voting machines meet none of those criteria. That's why elections now tilt red in previously blue states.

(10,137 posts)I'm in California, land of "cram as many things on the ballot as possble". In addition to president, this year we have US Congress, state offices, local races (including the hard-fought school board, which judging by yard signs is THE most important one), state propositions, local propositions and who knows what else. So they have to match the ballot to the address: sure, they could just copy one of the official ballots the county sends out, but the county includes 4 congressional districts and at least as many state assembly districts, which don't overlap. It's a dead giveaway to have votes cast for the 14th district when the voter is supposed to be in the 18th! Maybe it'd be easier in smaller states, but this is just another level of complexity that makes it hard to manipulate mail-in ballots.

(8,301 posts)And our election will go on. Our votes will be counted. States will certify, and at noon on January 22, 2021, Donald J Trump will no longer legally be the President of the United States, if he loses. No redos!
