I remember when Powell endorsed Obama because I posted the article in LBN. I was still new at the time. Anyway, the reason he endorsed Obama because the Republicans went too far with Palin and he had a problem with McCain's response and the woman that said Obama is an Arab. Powell said "so what if he was" and told a story about a Muslim soldier dying in combat.

As far as to the OP this is my only response.

I don't know about 2004 but today plenty of Muslims especially in the younger generations are engaged in politics & the Iraq war, police discrimination & Islamaphobia following 9/11 plays a role in that.

He helped sell a war that killed and maimed thousands of Americans. The consequences are still with us today in an unstable ME and a war in Afghanistan going on 19 years.

To me, he's as much a war criminal as Cheney, Yoo, Gonzales, Haspel and the rest of those Bush war mongers.

"What if Trump Won’t Go?" – Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, The Analysis, June 29, 2020.

Larry Wilkerson is part of three working groups that are concerned that there will not be free and fair elections or a peaceful and constitutional transition of power; Wilkerson and Jay have a wide ranging discussion on what might happen if Trump won’t go, on theAnalysis.news podcast.

TRANSCRIPT: Paul Jay. Hi, I’m Paul Jay and welcome to theAnalysis.news podcast.

On the web site of the National Task Force on Election Crises, there is a document that asks the question, can the president cancel or postpone the election? The web site, the document on the website answers the question, “Thus, the general election is governed by a combination of the U.S. Constitution, federal law and state and local laws. None of these give the president any authority to change the date of the election or to extend the current presidential term past January 20th,” end quote. Still, obviously, people are concerned about what Trump might actually do if he loses, or there wouldn’t be groups planning for just such a possibility. Of course, the critical question is what would the military do in such a situation?

Now joining us is Lawrence Wilkerson. He’s a retired United States colonel, former chief of staff to United States Secretary of State Colin Powell, Clarise, a distinguished adjunct professor of government and public policy at the College of William and Mary, And he’s part of three groups that are working towards a constitutional transition of power. If Trump loses the November election, they say they’re working towards a fair election, but I think that’s what people actually have in mind. The National Task Force on Election Crises, as I mentioned, he’s also a member of the Transition Integrity Project and the Silver Linings Group...

I'm OK with Colin speaking because he's so eloquent and gives the best, most thoughtful endorsements... but seriously? I don't want to hear about McCain, Kasich, etc.

2012 was one of our best conventions EVER because people were unapologetically progressive/liberal AND PROUD!

That being said, my concern level is probably 1 (on a scale of 1 to 100). Our main focus should be on stopping trump's criminal USPS scheme, but the inclusion of so many republicans is definitely an eye roll moment for me.

They are normalizing the abandonment of Trump. This is the kind of thing that will wake up those in the cult who are looking for a way out. This will mean the difference between a close contested win and a humiliating landslide.

We need to overwhelmingly win. And we can't do it without them.

The idea is to show overwhelming rejection of Trump by left, right, and center. Too many purists getting who have never run a campaign getting bent out of shape about this.
