(26,366 posts)That much is clear from the fact that over the past two weeks, the world's second largest aircraft - the Russian-made Antonov AN-124-100 - has made eight trips to Harrisburg International Airport to load up big Grove cranes made in Shady Grove and JLG lifts that come from McConnellsburg.

(4,555 posts)Here is an article from a decade ago about this huge plane being at HIA. Apparently due to its size, it is utilized for large cargo hauls.

So, it could be just a Co-inkidink that Trump is there as well.
Sorry! But in some ways I am actually relieved.

(670 posts)since it is often the only way to fly oversized cargo. Its just a contracted commercial cargo flight - nothing out of the ordinary.

(250 posts)It's an An-124 of Antonov Airlines, a Ukranian Airline. It's one of the largest commercial cargo aircraft and they fly all over the world.

(3,400 posts)About 15-20 years ago in Salt Lake City they brought in that model to fly supplies to Russia. It was in July or August & the temperatures were too high to allow it to take off. It sat there for 2-3 weeks before it could leave.
That thing is HUGE.
Hopefully, they can get the whole tRump administration & family on it.

US companies routinely contract both the An-124 and An-225 to haul heavy and large parts that cannot fit in normal size aircraft. This plane is probably in town delivering a shipment to some contractor. Hell, even the military uses it from time to time when they have something too big for a C-5 or C-17.
