<Beto O'Rourke Endorses Rep Joe Kennedy III in Primary Challenge Against Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey and This is Why:
Right now, the most important thing for us as a nation is to defeat the most racist and dangerous president we have seen in our lifetime.
What is just as important is the year, the five years, and the ten years that will follow.
This is the chance of a generation. If we do not push through the most progressive agenda that this country has ever seen, if we do not dismantle the foundational and systemic racism that exists in every corner of this nation, and if we do not ensure every person has access to the mental and physical health care they need to take care of their families -- then we will have squandered our last best opportunity to build something so much better for our future.
That is why we need Joe Kennedy in the U.S. Senate.
We need leaders who can meet this moment. Leaders who can speak to a nation that is divided, raw, and angry. Leaders who do not turn away from suffering, but who show up whenever and wherever there are people who are sick, forgotten, or afraid. We dont have more time to waste on the politicians or policies of the past. Those that follow in our footsteps are counting on us to get this right. That means we need leaders who arent afraid to change this countrys course and to fight like hell. Thats why Im with Joe.>

(83,967 posts)He has every right to speak as do the voters in the fourth district that voted for Kennedy. I voted for both Kennedy and Markey.
He has left a very blue district vulnerable, to run against a popular progressive Senator. No difference between the two other than age and a name. Considering the damage of don, this is the wrong time.
One of the top 4 that are vying for his seat is a dem that turned rep to work on Baker-R gubernatorial campaign and voted for him. He also gave a max donation to a sheriffs reelection who is anti gay and anti immigration. Goddess forbid he wins. I don't want him representing me.

(16,508 posts)Im not a Mass voter and frankly dont really care who wins. In many ways it would be much easier if Markey won. The voters will decide, though. I respect whatever they decide.
