Novartis recalls Excedrin, Bufferin due to broken tablets

Novartis Recalls Some Over-The-Counter Products in U.S.

Jan. 8 (Bloomberg) -- Novartis AG said it is voluntarily recalling some over-the-counter products in the U.S.

The move comes after consumer complaints “of chipped and broken pills and inconsistent bottle packaging line clearance practices possibly resulting in mixed tablets,” the company said in a statement today. Novartis’s operations at its facility in Lincoln, Nebraska, will also be suspended, the statement said.

The recall is estimated to result in a one-time charge of $120 million.

“There have been no related adverse events reported with the issues leading to the recall,” the statement said.
