Soledad O'Brien: Somebody should do a show on all the ways Joe & Mika helped to elect Trump

Soledad O'Brien @soledadobrien

Just an aside: Somebody really should do an entire show on all the ways in which Joe and Mika went above and beyond to help elect Donald Trump.

Just so people don’t forget.

Scarborough wanted to be VP but Trump went with Pence instead to make the party happy. This led to a period of bad feelings during the summer of 16. They made up after the RNC and Joe and MEka became Trump sycophants again. On New Year’s Eve they went to Trump’s party seeking jobs in his administration. They felt Trump owed them for all they did to get him elected. Joe wanted a cabinet position and MEka wanted to be press secretary. Trump again said no. They felt betrayed and left the party early. Since then they have been attacking Trump relentlessly.

Dems that didn't vote.
Dems and independents who only half-heartedly backed the ticket in 2016. Often it was because of the same reasons.

Those that are preaching unity and pragmatism now would have stopped the trump win had they been as effusive and supportive of HRC as they are of Biden.

and I yell at them all! What I usually yell is "YOU BUILT THIS." "YOU BUILT IT!"

Four-and-a-half years ago, it was Pile On Hillary! Open season on that poor woman. All this trump whining about what he has to put up with, and they're-not-saying-nice-things-about-me, and other pathetic shameless snivelings! The horrible things that were said about her. The lies that were not just told but screeched.

I'm STILL angry about it.

Lo these four years later.

Sorry/not sorry.

I will NEVER believe or be convinced that she wasn't robbed. She wasn't the only victim. WE ALL were robbed! America was robbed.

Democracy itself was robbed.

So all these talking heads - ARE THEY REALLY "reformed"? HAVE THEY REALLY seen the light? Or is it that they just don't like this guy because he's vulgar and gross and a shitty manager and doesn't tell the truth, and makes them look bad? But they still believe in the despicable and thoroughly UN-Christian "principles," selfishness, greed, and short-sighted and mean-spirited policies that form the bedrock of the GOP-belief system.

defeat. Joe and Mika shouldn't even be on our radar right now.

I really get sick of people bringing this up at a time like this. It's like people go looking for past grudges and things to be pissed off about when we have a crisis on our hands right now and need to focus on WHO and WHAT our targets should be TODAY.

Not whining about who betrayed us in the past. There is time for that later, when Trump and his swamp have been purged from the White House.

But, Mika for all her pathetic fawning of him running counter to her GO GIRL schtick, was relentless in her scorn of HRC. They absolutely fed into whatever bullshit was being fomented on her during the first half of the campaign, when the damage was done to allow people to justify voting for the sociopath because Hillary Clinton was "that bad."

it’s hard to look back at it now but over a decade ago when I watched, I liked it for the celebrities who participated. Note that trump had nothing to do with the show, everything was written and arranged for him. He just read the lines, made no decisions.

Start with the excessive coverage of Trump's rallies. He got so much more coverage than other candidates. Someone monetized it - he got billions of dollars of free coverage.

And then move on to the debates. Natural disasters and pandemics were clearly something a president should be prepared to handle, and not one single question, in any debate, was asked about those things. Not just disease, but hurricanes, forest fires, anything FEMA would be dealing with - stuff that has the most immediate impact on peoples' lives, and none of these were ever mentioned. Everyone catered to him and what he wanted to talk about.

26. Leslie Moonves on Donald Trump: "It May Not Be Good for America, but It's Damn Good for CBS"
Fri Aug 21, 2020, 02:41 PM
Aug 2020
Not that the CBS executive chairman and CEO might vote for the Republican presidential frontrunner, but he likes the ad money Trump and his competitors are bringing to the network.

"It may not be good for America, but it's damn good for CBS," he said of the presidential race.

Moonves called the campaign for president a "circus" full of "bomb throwing," and he hopes it continues.

"Most of the ads are not about issues. They're sort of like the debates," he said.

"Man, who would have expected the ride we're all having right now? ... The money's rolling in and this is fun," he said.

Even though I'm still burning with anger over Joe Scarborough's naked pandering for Chump during the last election ... I'm still thinking that we need every vote we can get in November.

We can't afford to turn away anyone who might have had a change of heart (or mind) since 2016. We need the journalists and TV pundits especially now, because we had SO FEW of them in 2016.

Joe and Mika should roast in hell for helping to elect Chump, but we need them now. We also need the Lincoln Project guys who have been awesome, and anyone else who can help Biden win. We'll sort the rest out later!
