At a gathering of the Council for National Policy in Arlington, Trump called the Democratic convention the “darkest and angriest and gloomiest” in the country’s history, saying “where Joe Biden sees American darkness, I see American greatness.” Trump claimed that voting by mail is “filthy,” a “disgrace,” and would lead to the “greatest catastrophe” ever while peddling fears about “violent mobs” overtaking U.S. cities. Trump also attacked Obama, saying “you can’t be a great president when much of what he’s done we’ve undone.”

Hopefully we'll be able undo what he's done. It'll take awhile.

3. It's a mixed bag

They have loaded up the courts with activist RWNJ judges which is probably his only one true accomplishment.

But much of the rest will be relatively easy to undo. The unfinished wall will be torn down, we will be back in the Paris climate accords, all of his executive orders will be undone with the stroke of a pen, his tax cuts will be reversed by the congress, environmental regs he gutted will be reinstated. Competent people will be placed in positions of leadership throughout our government. All of this, and more, will be relatively straightforward if there is a Dem majority in the senate.

In the geopolitical realm, like the judges, it will be more challenging. I doubt Iran will be in the mood to revisit diplomacy. China and the US are on a Cold War footing. As for our allies in Europe they will eventually trust us again but that will take time. I do expect many scenes of rejoicing from Europe the moment it’s official Trump is done. That will be the start of our recovery internationally, when we prove we’re willing to get rid of this criminal.

Here at home we will also need to confront the rot that got us Trump. That’s the part that I’m least hopeful about.
