(62,444 posts)But I know jack about airworthiness.
They probably own it, sold it to the finance company which then loaned them the money to buy it back. The finance company is then owned by a trust to which they are beneficiaries. That way, they don't "own" the jet, but they can deduct the expense of paying themselves for it.

(1,289 posts)In fact, it's still in production today as the model 605. And it's hardly cheap, this fine example of a '89 model is priced at $3.6 million.

With aircraft, the model year isn't nearly as important as the number of hours/cycles and maintenance history.
Well maintained aircraft can last a long, long time. I recently had the pleasure of flying with a friend in his 72 year old Beech 18. The old plane is in fabulous shape and it was a real joy to fly

(62,444 posts)And how much extra is the fuselage kennel?

(1,289 posts)But $3.6m is a lot of money to a poor boy like me lol
I'm not sure about the price of a FAA approved plane top dog carrier , I'll look it up and get back to you

(743 posts)I could ever be a politician. I am scared to death of flying. I am glad they are alright. I am even more glad that Rmoney's Campaign is going down in flames as well. I couldn't be happier. It seems like going down in flames is working out for both of them lately.

(62,444 posts)Hmmm... Has he been hanging around any aircraft hangars lately?

(743 posts)I would not be the least bit surprised. As heartless as he is and as stupid as he thinks this plan would be right up his alley. (Take out my wife in an "accident" and then I will get rid of her and get all that sympathy from the American people and they will just have to VOTE for me! It's got to work!! How can anyone vote against a man who just lost his wife in a horrible accident?)

(62,444 posts)It was between the election and the convening of Congress that Joe Biden lost his wife, and his kids were seriously injured. That was about a mile from where I live, and that intersection is a somber spot for everyone around here.

(743 posts)Joe is such a great man and it is an inspiration to see such a great man keeping strong and still out there fighting the good fight. I would never wish anyone to lose a member of their family or loved ones even Mitten's so I was glad everyone was alright today.

(111,412 posts)a better metaphor for the Romney [s]disaster[/s], uh, campaign.
After all, any fire aboard a plane is a harrowing experience. People have died in them even when the plane has safely landed, not having time to get down the emergency chutes.

(62,444 posts)I fly a LOT, and understand the safety statistics. Besides, if we are going to hit the ground at 300 mph, that's okay.
But the idea of a bad landing and a raging fire is the one that really nags at me.
Heck, I don't know how those people stood on those freezing cold wet wings in the Hudson - that would have done me in.

(804 posts)...if the plane incident was a "smoke screen" to cover when Romney released his "taxes."
