If you had said you supported Trump they would have asked you for money.

I (finally) answered a RNCC call this week and, after making it clear I'm a Biden supporter, she still asked me if I'd make a contribution to Chump's campaign.

3. It all depends on what they're trying to find out

Or accomplish. The typical push poll would do more than just ask and hang up. They'd get some attack in. Does this scandal about the bad candidate bother you? Do you like that mr. wonderful candidate loves the flag? Ok, now, which candidate do you prefer?

That's a "poll" that's really an advertisement.

But a legitimate poll might be interested only in what undecided voters think, or voters who prefer one candidate or another. Say I'm test-marketing an ad campaign I'm thinking of running against a candidate and I want to know what tag line best brings undecideds yo my side. Or that creates doubt in those leaning toward my opponent. I might want a poll that asks those questions only of undecided voters. Or only of my opponent's voters.

Hence the hang up if you're not in the group I care about for that as campaign.

4. Is that what's going on? Like you I usually don't answer if I don't recognize the number

I’m getting swamped by calls lately. They are identified as coming from all over but I know there’s ways they can generate fictitious numbers. They never leave a message. Makes sense it’s political. The amount of calls I’ve been getting is way more than the usual scammers.

5. Asking if you were registered and planned to vote...

are important questions to determine accurate poll results.

The 3 questions give them all the information they need for a quick poll/survey.
1 - Are you likely to actually vote (voters are ultimately the only ones who matter).
2 - Will you be voting for Trump.

7. It hasn't happened to me, but I have a strategy

If they call, and ask I support Trump, I could say I did. Then if they ask if I support this program or that, I invariably would say no, his advisers are completely misguided on that one, and say the same thing about everything they ask. Then, when they ask for money, I can't, because I'm broke, and I can't go out and volunteer because I'm also disabled. Finally, I can't make phone calls for them either because I'm mentally disabled, which should have been obvious from the beginning when I said I supported Trump.

The only thing I can think of.

During the midterms, I)'d read that 17 states were purging Dems.

the caller doesn't leave a message it's bogus... And remember that numbers that appear on caller ID
can be spoofed. You can't trust anybody these days.

30-40% approval rating. They called and got some response from the call and it gets counted for whatever the poll program tallies it to once entered. The problem with phone polls isn't just that they call a given data set of numbers and carefully worded questions... you also have to consider the poll/survey taker who enters that info into the computer during/after the call.

13. Many political surveys have qualifying questions..

They could be looking for people that are a certain age, race or people that live in a specific county. I have been a survey caller. However, I would never just hang up on someone that did not qualify. I would thank them for their time and say have a good night.
