Long time lurker ( really long time ..like Bush's first term in office) .But here is my First OP.
I could use my negative energy to curse the heck out of Donald Trump and Republicans ... It may make me feel good momentarily, but that will make me one of them.
So for my first post ..here is something I have always found uplifting
A young Barack Obama reading from his book at the Cambridge public library. Even a 20 something year old Barack has such introspection and maturity behind him, it takes your breath away.
Enjoy:

(53,061 posts)Don't let the Trumpists change you, an important reminder.
I try and tell myself that everyday.
Some days I am successful.

(16,254 posts)but even held off breakfast to listen to the entire video.
Barack is an incredible human being and his reading of part of his story held my attention to the point where I just could not break away. We need him back in the White House. I wish the Republicans had not blocked everything he tried to do. Obviously, they were afraid of success at whatever he tackled.
Fear and jealousy are burdensome things. They would do well to rid themselves of them.
Thank you.

(744 posts)I first heard of John Fugelsang here ... And started following him on Twitter and then listening to him on SiriusXM app. ..
One of his most admirable qualities is that he lets everyone call into his show and tries to reason with the caller ..He tries telling them, even the craziest caller, that he loves them.. And over years..I realized that he means it ..
While he doesnt succeed in changing the perspective of any caller ( at least not in real time) ..I find that attitude much less corrosive ..That helped me get over my anger .
So in a way I have to thank DU ... I feel I know a lot of you even though we have never interacted in anyway
