Biden Leads In PA, 49% to 42%

A new Franklin & Marshall poll in Pennsylvania shows Joe Biden leading Donald Trump in the presidential race, 49% to 42%.

Important takeaway: “There are fewer registered voters in 2020 who express support for a third-party candidate or who are undecided compared to August 2016.”

I wish they’d switch to likely voters. That would give President Biden a huge increase in the poll.

Numbers tend to get closer once pollsters switch to likely voters, since conservatives usually vote more reliably.

I haven't looked at the methodology yet to offer any real criticism, but their margins seemed... surprising.

advantage of automatic telephone call screening to get representative samples.

Smart (phone) people who don't want to speak with scammers will not pickup for callers that they don't know. That is what I do -- and I have not participated in any polls. I would if the pollers would begin a message that explains who and what the call is about. None do and I don't pickup.

So, my concern is that the poll results are skewed toward those who either don't care if scammers call them or are not capable of screening them out.
