The NHL will reportedly not be playing any of its playoff games on Thursday, in solidarity with other professional sports leagues protesting against racial injustice and the recent police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wis.
The Islanders were supposed to play Game 3 of the Second Round against the Philadelphia Flyers, but that will be pushed to another date now. The Vegas Golden Knights and Vancouver Canucks were set to play after them as well.
This began with the Milwaukee Bucks deciding not to play their First Round playoff game against the Orlando Magic on Wednesday. The rest of the NBA followed suit, with every playoff game not played.
That message of solidarity would spread into the MLB, when the Milwaukee Brewers became the first team to take a stand and postpone their game against the Cincinnati Reds. The Seattle Mariners-San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers-San Francisco Giants games were also postponed.
