Whatever happened to a shotgun for defense?

I think we Dems need to compromise on gun issues somewhat, but that side does too. Auto/semi weapons are for WAR. No citizen needs that kind of firepower.

But we need as many votes as possible.
The assault weapon issue can be done once the Democrats are in control.

we don't win in downstate illinois

illinois has had a couple of rep governors and senators...do you want to chance that?

being raised in the country i am not scared of guns the way many on du seem to be, growing up every neighbor had at least one loaded gun, no one ever got hurt , altho a few gas thieves got scared off with a shot into the air

shotguns are heavy and kick like a mule

i am all for background checks and limiting magazine sizes but not outlawing guns for everyone but the rich, which is what the gentleman in the film talks about

This so called concerned voter is full of b.s. Assault weapons my ass! Is he aware we had an assault ban on effect for 20 years or so since the days of Clinton? The repubs let it elapse. There was no controversy when it passed with Biden's bill. Very few missed having them. Assault weapons aren't needed anywhere except in warfare. But NRA lobbyists convinced folks they were absolutely needed. Bull!, gun companies were running out of customers and went looking for a new market. Hunting weapons and personal security guns are enough in any society. So if a voter hates tRump and believes he's horribly wrong for this country, he and his ilk will vote him in again over one issue? I say this is crap all rolled up in propaganda. Don't be fooled by this sincere redneck. It's all made up!

If they even have a whiff of it. He seemed to have a firm grasp of the left and what they stand for.

So I guess I gave the dude too much credence.
However I think his observances regarding moderate rethugs and trumpism hold some water if you ignore the guns bullshit.

But than again if the fuckers are so in love with thier damn assault weapons they'll let trump destroy America than fuck them sideways with a pineapple bigger than my head.

While I don't always agree with Beau, I find that he is very clear and coherent when he makes his points. It gives me more insight into a different point of view in a way that I find, at least, sensible and worthy of consideration.

He covers a wide range of topics, so I really don't expect him to be in total accord with my views, but rather, worthy of consideration and something he has thought out well enough for me to contend with if I don't agree and that makes my own POV sharper on some subjects.

He sure is not an ranting, dense extremist on the fringe, so I give him that, regardless of his biases. Some things he has said about guns and ownership have been ideas I would hope are influential to people who are advocates.

I have had more of these discussions than I care to remember. And he's right. My boss is one of these people...

Republican his entire life, voted for Trump in '16 but absolutely HATES him now and, as this man said, considers himself "fiscally conservative, socially liberal." He sees that he was conned but he's struggling. His entire life's Republican ideology has been turned on its head. He wants to vote for Biden but again, as this man said, it's not so much because he likes Biden or even believes in Biden, it's because he wants to see Trump/Trumpism repudiated. He has a gun for protection (one only - a pistol) but the idea of the government telling him "you can have this gun but not that one" is really chafing him.

I don't know what the answer is to sway and/or keep these folks but, personally, I believe there should be an assault weapons ban. Maybe let them have any and all the guns they want but ban the ammo? Hmmmm...

🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

Too many still living with veangance laws and outlaw ethics. When will the US become civilized? It still clings to the wild west lifestyle as basic.

So they will support Biden if he joins the NRA and its crooked leader. In the corporate world that's called a poison pill deal for a reason - many will die if it is taken.

That guns give the moderate right wing a sense of security so they feel safe or something.
I'm not talking about the rabid nra worshipping asshole tho.

My family is from the south and they always had guns. One or two rifles in the house.

They kept them locked up and they got trained to be safe with the guns. They weren't assholes leaving them out and they never brandished them or acted like the guns gave them permission to be assholes
My folks with the guns were liberals. No shit.

They hunted deer with the guns and when they weren't hunting they didn't talk about them, they were locked in the cabinet safetys on and there they stayed. They'd call you insane if you took a gun out to intimidate anyone or didn't keep it pointed down at all times..

They hated the NRA.

They lived like 50 miles from the nearest grocery store, canned food from the beautiful garden they had ,ate it all winter, had chickens, and raised a hog for meat for the winter.
They had fireplaces in thier house for winter and burned wood in it.

They were liberals.
Very self suffcient.

This is why I am mixed on this issue. I understand people in the middle of nowhere use thier guns to eat through the winter.
They are not crazy people.

But I also know crazy right-wing gun waving pieces of shit need to be limited in how many guns and what kinds because we'll they are fucking dangerous.

I myself totally agree with assault weapon bans ammo limits etc.

I know if I bought an assault rifle in thier house they would have told me to get rid of it and ask if I lost my goddamn mind.

I think this is what made me suceptable to Beau's
Argument.
