What a bunch of fools and selfish assholes..The single most expensive way to care for people, and they suggest it. Why?
To help the poor insurance comanpies. Single payer is so much more efficent and less expensive . And single payer will save lives and catch diseases long before the emergancy room.
.. Let Mitt go to the emergancy room. These people don't care about anyone but themselves. This defines it.

As only Tommy Lee can do it.

(22,336 posts)They have to accept you if you can pay or not, but even if you can't pay, they'll bill you, and at expensive emergency room rates, and that debt will follow you forever. Not a good solution.

(47,675 posts)And they turn the damn things over to collections if you're 30 days late. Insurance and health care should NOT be for-profit industries!

(47,675 posts)There's so much unnecessary testing because of that ROI thing. If one hospital gets a fancy machine, the one down the road has to get one too. Wouldn't it be cheaper just to run an ambulance shuttle down to the one that already has the machine? (In best John Belushi voice) "But NOOOOOOooooo". The irony is that most MRI and CT tubes are operated by the same people in multiple locations and sublet by the same company in multiple hospitals. I know because I look closely at the bills. But the hospitals have to pay for the equipment and they can only do that by using quotas.
And people wonder why healthcare is so expensive. I think it's rather obvious.

(4,558 posts)That's certainly great news. I'm an amputee, and I've been buying insurance all these years for naught!
Even better news: My wife can just drop into the ER to get her cancer treatment. And my father was diagnosed with lung cancer in August, and will have half his lung removed next week. I didn't realize he could have just gone to the ER. Thanks Mitt!
And that's just me and my family.

(19,458 posts)It should piss the republican voters off, because this is why our premiums are so damn high. people don't have access to regular care, so they wait until it's worse and then they have to go to ER OR they use it like a primary care doctor taking their kids in for earaches.. to the tune of thousands of dollars. The visits are paid for by everyone else. Romney is such an idiot. the media should be all over that.

(38,726 posts)Grayson said it all. These people are selfish beyond belief. Going to the ER can be the worst idea, especially if it is preventive care..
You just wont do it. Preventive care gets puts aside, if you have no insurance, then problems can become acute, then it is too late..
..It is their fall back place..go to ER..nothing else...Fuck You to those uninsured.
Exactly the same as the 47% statement..

(62,325 posts)that the ER is free. It is NOT free. Not to mention that all they can do there if you have no coverage, is stabilize you. Then you are on your own only with a bill you didn't have before going there. Which is why many people put off going to Emergency, because they do not want a bill they cannot pay.
This adds to the cost of HC as people who could be treated early end up becoming more sick and needing far more treatment than they would have in the beginning.
We definitely do not need someone whose math is this bad, running our economy.
