Worse than just stupid. He is one of those stupid people that think that they are really smart.
Like the emperor without clothes, his handlers convinced him that he was bright.
Like all deceptions, it was not sustainable and started to unravel when he traveled to the UK this summer.
The comparisons with Romney's trip to Europe and Obama's visit at almost exactly the same stage in the electoral cycle four years ago are almost too embarrassing to mention. Obama wooed a quarter of a million people in Berlin while Romney was mocked by the British prime minister.

The Los Angeles Times reports Mitt Romney spoke about the concern he had for his wife when her plane had to make an emergency landing Friday because of an electrical malfunction.
Said Romney: "I appreciate the fact that she is on the ground, safe and sound. And I don't think she knows just how worried some of us were. When you have a fire in an aircraft, there's no place to go, exactly, there's no -- and you can't find any oxygen from outside the aircraft to get in the aircraft, because the windows don't open. I don't know why they don't do that. It's a real problem. So it's very dangerous. And she was choking and rubbing her eyes. Fortunately, there was enough oxygen for the pilot and copilot to make a safe landing in Denver. But she's safe and sound."

George W Bush was stupid but everyone knew he was stupid. People are starting the understand that Romney may be as stupid as Dub'ya was.
How else can you explain the series of blunders and gaffes that Romney has produced since becoming the GOP's last man standing?

While I'm sure it was upsetting for everyone involved, I'm not sure what to make of Mitt Romney's reaction to the incident (thanks to E.R. for the tip).

Now, I don't have any background in aeronautical engineering, but I've been in a few airplanes and I have a rudimentary understanding of how air pressure works.
And I'm pretty sure Jed Lewison has this right: "Yeah, great question Mitt. I mean, wouldn't it be awesome to be able to crack the window when you're at 35,000 feet? You know, get a taste of that 500+ mile per hour breeze? It'd be like the mile-high club for Seamus, with the added benefit of asphyxiation induced by the low oxygen levels at cruising altitude -- assuming that you manage to avoid having the plane rip apart due to the sudden loss of cabin pressure."
Maybe Romney was trying to be funny -- the article doesn't note anything about his tone -- but even if assume this was some sort of joke, it's also odd to think he would kid around about his wife being on a burning airplane.

I guess he was distracted in Boy Scouts.
That's what those drop-down masks are for. The Twit is too arrogant to read the Emergency Procedures Card at his seat on the Aircraft.
You can bet he will be the first one out the Emergency Exit.

(42,757 posts)My guess is he thinks he'll pull off some kind of miracle in the debates and then he will spring an October surprise or two (dirty tricks actually) and then with the hard core rethuglican voters he'll be home safe. Poor Mittens. He's in for a rude awakening.

(9,974 posts)It's just that this time around, the repuke base and the repuke establishment hate Mittens so badly (from the get go...) that they are not willing to cover for Mittens like they did shrub.
Sure, Mittens has people like the Koch brothers throwing their money around, but the overall repuke machine didn't want Mittens to really be the one to advance past the primaries and be the one to run.
IMHO, they aren't covering for him like they did chimpass. Trust me, as someone living in TX under the chimpass regime, there was a SHITload of stuff that could have been used against chimpass but never was or it was spun, spun, spun by the repukes and, thus, ignored by the M$M.
