Expand the Court

The mantra from every Democrat should be “Expand the Court. The Republicans have blatantly abused the system. Expand the Court”

I get that some people think that’s a fantasy. Guess what? Even six years ago the idea of Donald Trump as a serious Presidential candidate was a fantasy.

In two party politics, one party’s unified party line can become conventional wisdom very quickly.

The Republicans have abused the system. Expand the Court.

Agree, we need balance in the court system which will enable fairness. LuvJoesPartner Sep 2020 #4

Not the least of which it removes the world-altering circumstances caused by a single justice’s passing away.

Just do it when they take office. The republicans didn't reverse their 2016 stance until RBG died (some as soon as a month ago). Why take the heat when it's unnecessary?

Unless the fantasy is expecting our Democratic leadership to play hardball. It is well within the lawful options if we win the presidency and senate while keeping the house.

29 justices seems fine.

talking about it before the election changes the narrative away from how horrible Trump has been on everything: economy, covid, race relations, etc.

We can't do it before the election. We can't do it if Biden doesn't win. We can't do it if we don't flip the Senate. Keeping everything on message about how terrible Trump has been for this country gets us votes and seats.

I am not saying don't talk about it here but politicians running for office shouldn't be talking about it. Ideally there shouldn't be many news stories about it.

I fully support the idea of expanding the Court. Probably long over due.

First things first. Kill the fillibuster and nullify the Repubs ability to block shit from happening.

Without all 3 branches of government, none of this could happen.
