"John Durham, the U.S. attorney appointed by Attorney General Bill Barr to investigate the probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election, has reportedly expanded the scope of his investigation to look into past allegations of wrongdoing by the Clinton Foundation.
The New York Times reports that Durham has sought documents and interviews about how federal law enforcement officials handled an investigation around the same time into allegations of political corruption at the Clinton Foundation.
The Times sources say that branching out to include a review of the Clinton Foundation investigation is highly unusual, and has led some prosecutors who worked on the case to refuse to meet with Durhams team.
Though the suspected crimes themselves are not comparable one involves a possible conspiracy between a presidential campaign and a foreign adversary to interfere in an election, and the other involves potential bribery and corruption and largely included different teams of investigators and prosecutors, Mr. Durhams efforts suggest the scope of his review is broader than previously known, the Times reports."

BTW, I checked Charity Navigator and the Clinton Foundation had an A- rating.

Dick Cheney's company's HQ is now in Dubai, and Cheney still has--last I heard--his house (since 2008, now in Halliburton's name, and no longer his own name) on the island of Kish, the Iranian version of Hong Kong).
Somewhere without an extradition treaty, in any case.

(2,002 posts)They are going to try to use the "results" of the supposed investigation into The Clinton Foundation(there was never actual confirmation that any such investigation was real) to argue, "see, they didn't even try there, but spent years and millions investigating Trump" to try to spin it as completely political since they have nothing in the Biden or Russia Probe-Probe. It is smoke and mirrors nonsense. They are just "comparing the veracity" of the two investigations to "prove" politics explain the different outcomes.

Nov 8, 2019
WASHINGTON A New York judges ruling that President Donald Trump must pay $2 million to charity appears to be the final chapter in the saga of Trumps troubled charitable foundation.
State Supreme Court Justice Saliann Scarpulla of Manhattan ruled on Thursday that Trump pay $2 million in damages to various nonprofit groups to settle allegations that he and his family used the Trump Foundation to further his political and business interests ...
The Attorney General's Office and the Trump Foundation reached an agreement last year to dissolve the foundation and distribute its remaining $1.8 million in assets to a variety of charities, including the Army Relief Fund and the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum ...
In this week's ruling, Scarpulla wrote "that Mr. Trump breached his fiduciary duty" with statutory violations ...
