Knowing fully that Mitt Romney does not share the same passion as he does when it comes to global
empowerment, why would Bill Clinton even acknowledge an invitation from him?
I would like to think anyone speaking at such event should share those same value as Bill Clinton.
We all know Mitt Romney does not share those same values and there is no amount of semantics
or constructive sentences can change what Mitt Romney believes, which is ensuring that more
tax cuts is generated to the top one percent and 47% of American does not matter.
This can be seen as an exploitation, especially on a platform that is reserve for those that supports
global initiatives such as education, health etc, to give that platform to someone like Mitt Romney
who does not believe in half of the electorate or any of CGI's goal is in my opinion a huge mistake.

(21,078 posts)A "comparison" if you will, and I think that because of his words prior to bringing out President Obama. Stark, stark differences and Clinton wanted all to see that. IMO.. Plus, the guy is running for POTUS so it was I think, a "to be fair" type decision.

(18,402 posts)It starts at home. Excluding or belittling your opposition is not the way forward towards a more harmonious nation or world. (This message of inclusion was also part of Obama's UN speech.) Remember, we sit down at the table with those with whom we disagree. All voices, no matter how (insert adjective here), can be heard.

(11,461 posts)it is about inclusion, if we give a platform to a guy that does not believe in 47% of the American public
then we are sending a negative point of view to those who really believes in what CGI had to offer. His
speech was mainly an attack about what the president has not accomplished rather than offering what
he can do to help achieve the goals of CGI.

(13,390 posts)Because I want everyone to be sure and hear what he really thinks. This is an opportunity for civil education re: contrasting word views. It's a good opportunity for Mit to screw up again. Let him talk it does him no favors.

(17,742 posts)That will be the only way to expose him for what he is, let people far and wide see and hear him. He does a great job of campaigning for Democratic causes.

Romney used the time to go on about BUSINESS INTERESTS, the President talked about human beings.

(10,164 posts)For Romney, it would seem that merely opening his pie hole is a mistake...so Bill decided not only to let him, but to give him a nice, public stage upon which to do so.

(9,464 posts)It's not supposed to be a political event, even though it sounds like Romney treated it that way.

(11,461 posts)his speech was mainly on political issues which he used to attack the president.
He did not provide any substance as to how or what he will do to help people
from poor countries. That is another wasted opportunity from Mitt Romney.

(9,464 posts)Trying to politicize an issue that should not be politicized. I hope that the media will take him to task for this as well.

(95,337 posts)Because decades ago the two parties may disagree but worked together. The GOP pretty much won't do that anymore but it's good to see that our side still will.

(11,461 posts)I'm asking why invite someone like Mitt Romney to use CGI as a political platform.
Did you learn anything from his speech? I certainly did not, except more coded hate
toward Obama.
