He allegedly fired after members of the police department addressed the crowd, according to the document.
Online court documents show that Johnson was charged with two counts of first-degree assault and 14 counts of first-degree wanton endangerment. The 26-year-old Johnson was scheduled to be arraigned in Jefferson County District Court on Thursday morning.
Maj. Aubrey Gregory was shot in the hip and was released from the hospital Thursday morning,
Officer Robinson Desroches was shot in the lower abdomen and after going through multiple surgeries last night, Desroches is expected to fully recover, said Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer.

(51,308 posts)A right-winger did it...the usual.
One poster even said that if he knew the race of the cops who were shot, he would know who did it. Quite fascinating.

(82,849 posts)Meanwhile, his co-workers, friends, and relatives will announce that they are very carefully reviewing all the evidence related to the shootings. The Louisville municipal authorities will caution everyone not to rush to judgment, and the police will urge everyone to remain calm.
Then, some time in March or April of next year, Mr. Johnson's co-workers, friends, and relatives will announce that they have concluded he was wholly justified in standing his ground and firing his weapon, all charges will be dropped, and everyone will go about their business as if nothing happened.
Right?

The idea that a cop's life matters more than others' lives is a big part of the problem, it's the unspoken subtext to alot of this.

That was the original idea anyway. I think it makes sense on that level.

Brings up multiple thoughts to me:
1) were the fireworks planned to provide cover for gunfire?
2) were the fireworks something the shooter thought was gunfire from cops toward the crowd and he reacted violently?
3) were the fireworks just coincidence?
