Mr. Romney, I don't want the government to "give" me anything.

After 30+ years of working and paying taxes, I expect to recieve the SS payments and medicare benefits that I paid for.

I expect the government to protect me from the predators who crashed the economy and gutted my retirement account.

I fully expect that some of the money I pay in taxes will go to help people less fortunate than me. I believe that this is the compact that Americans have always had with eachother. It has worked quite well until lately when greed has become a virtue.

I expect the government to be a place where men and women serve their Country not become instant millionaires. If there is a "welfare state" in this country, it's in Congress.

I don't expect that you will ever understand the challenges that most people in this Country face every day...to keep their low paying jobs, make ends meet, feed and educate their children and save some money so they won't become destitute in their senior years.

So don't talk to me about American being the "land of opportunity" when you and your ilk have the heel of your boot on my neck.

in exactly the same way others have bought theirs.

It might cost you a bit more though. Nevertheless, if you value your knee-caps, you will find a way to come up with the money.

from Kos:

____That Mitt Romney's tax plan delivers a windfall for the wealthy and boosts the burden on lower income families while piling up trillions in new debt should come as no surprise. After all, that's true of every contender in the GOP presidential race.

Which means that Mitt Romney, the $250 million man who already pays Uncle Sam less than most middle class families, will win even if he loses. By slashing upper income tax rates, ending the estate tax and eliminating the capital gains tax, Rick Santorum, Rick Perry and most of all Newt Gingrich would give their hated rival from Massachusetts a multi-million dollar payday every year.
