There he is, stuck in this race, knowing he won't win unless there's a miracle (like miracle voter suppression). He won't drop out, of course. That doesn't happen. But deep down, I wonder if he's wondering if he made the right decision getting into this situation.
The lowest point I've ever seen in a presidential race was when the crowd was cheering, "Ryan! Ryan!" when Romney is on stage, in front of Ryan. Wow. The crowd is cheering for the second banana. And then the humiliating thing he does, when he tries to steer the crowd to cheering, "Romney-Ryan! Romney-Ryan!" and the crowd gets silent. Wow.

(12,799 posts)It's hard for me to feel bad right now. I promise the day after the election I will have an outpouring of empathy for Mitt, the socially awkward candidate. Right now, it just makes me giggle.

(20,885 posts)I'm not usually like that. Normally empathetic. (I like to think that.) But certain people, by their own choice, partly by becoming public, but mostly by their own psychopathology, are my virtual punching bags.
If they have no conscience, they feel no pain. But they can hurt. Romney, Ryan, throw in Bachmann, and round up that sleazeball, Cantor. Those people suffering brings me some joy!
The motivation for sustaining the animus is that I think they can steal the election, so I can't let up until its over.

(1,214 posts)...and he had his press conference, it looked like his staff had just woken him up, slicked his hair down a bit, and pushed him out on stage.

Sorry? Not one effing bit.

(20,885 posts)They tried out Gingrich, Cain, Perry, Santorum, all of whom didn't pass the smell test after their hype.
And when they wore out every possibility, Mitt was left standing. Never broke 50%. Loser. -- Unless they steal it.

(1,016 posts)He has always had maids, butlers, assistants to do the heavy lifting. Now that he has to do it, he is not capable physically and mentally to do the hard work it takes to run a presidential campaign. Fatigue will set in and you will see him make gaffe after gaffe. Even Obama had some gaffes during the 2008 campaign from fatigue.
