Romney wanted the election to be a referendum on Obama.

Obama wanted it to be a choice election between Obama and Romney.

It has tuned into a referendum... but not on Obama.

they were saying it's a referendum on Obama because they thought that would help them win.

Now they are expecting to lose, so they can't have people see it as a referendum on Obama, because they will want to keep blocking him. So they are saying, never mind what we said about the referendum, this election had nothing to do with Obama.

2. Luntz is a bastard, but forthcoming about his skullduggery...

Over the years, in interviews, I have noticed that Luntz is happy to explain how he shapes his propaganda. He spills his methods as if he knows it won't affect the results.
