TX-10: DCCC Chairwoman Bustos Names Mike Siegel to 'Red to Blue' Program

DCCC Chairwoman Cheri Bustos announced today that Mike Siegel has been named to the DCCC’s highly competitive Red to Blue program. Siegel is running for Congress in TX-10, a rapidly-changing Austin-to-Houston congressional district won by Beto O’Rourke in 2018. As the district’s 2018 Democratic nominee, Siegel came within 4 points of unseating Congressman Michael McCaul.

Siegel has earned a spot on the Red to Blue program by surpassing aggressive goals for grassroots engagement, local support, campaign organization and fundraising. Beyond his record of service and demonstrated ability to build a winning campaign infrastructure, he has an authentic message that connects with voters in his district and deep ties to the diverse communities he aims to serve.

“As a civil rights lawyer and former public school teacher, Mike Siegel is a champion for everyday people,” DCCC Chairwoman Cheri Bustos said. “He couldn’t be more different than Congressman McCaul, who has proven after more than 15 years in office that he’s no longer interested in serving everyday Texans. While Mike Siegel has dedicated his life to fighting for the unspoken and unheard, Congressman McCaul brags about repeatedly voting to take away Texans’ health care and takes pride in his attachment to corporate special interests. The inspiring energy behind Mike Siegel and his grassroots campaign put this district on the map in 2018, and he will finish the job in 2020.”

Red to Blue is a highly competitive and battle-tested DCCC program that arms top-tier candidates with organizational and fundraising support to help them continue to develop strong campaigns. Additionally, through Red to Blue the DCCC provides strategic guidance, staff resources, candidate trainings and more.

There are now eight Texans on the DCCC’s selective Red to Blue program. Siegel joins Sima Ladjevardian in TX-02, Lulu Seikaly in TX-03, Wendy Davis in TX-21, Sri Preston Kulkarni in TX-22, Gina Ortiz Jones in TX-23, Candace Valenzuela in TX-24 and Julie Oliver in TX-25.

Ever since Tom Delay and the Texas GOP gerrymandered
this district in an effort to get rid of Lloyd Doggett, the
rep has been elected by people up to 150 miles away
including very red Katy, TX.

Here in Austin it’s very blue, so we literally have not had
representation for over 10 years.

If Siegel wins, it will be a true miracle, but you never know...
