From the "Where Are They Now?" Files

They covered for him, lied for him, perjured themselves for him. They made public spectacles of themselves defending him. They chose to let their own constituents see them as hypocrites, willing to change positions on a dime, if it meant staying in their Master’s favour.

They grovelled before him. No matter how much he insulted them and/or their families, they prostrated themselves in front of him, and begged to be forgiven any slight that may have been perceived as disloyalty.

Many abandoned whatever principles they once held, encouraged to do so by those who never had any principles to begin with. They told their trusting supporters that there was nothing untoward about a “pResident” who lies on a daily basis – or our government agencies being run by inexperienced, incompetent buffoons – or babies being taken from their parents at the border – or even a “pResident” who declared before the world that Putin’s word was worth more than the word of his own nation’s intelligence community.

There was no low the GOP wouldn’t sink to in order to defend a racist bully, whose stupidity was obvious, and whose self-serving agenda so apparently had nothing to do with the well-being of the country and its citizens

Some did it to line their own pockets, others to move up in party circles. Some just went along to get along – too dumb and politically-naïve to question their more experienced colleagues.

And they did all of it so they could end up here, about to lose the political power of the WH, congress, and in countless other about-to-be-lost races across the country, while still trying to defend the madman who got them here in the first place.

There is nothing more pathetic than the sound of dead men talking – still believing that just one more Covid-spreading rally is going to turn things around in the days left before November 3rd. And there is nothing more satisfying than hearing the death-rattle of the Republican party every time they speak.

I wonder how the truly vulnerable are faring these days, knowing that investigations under a Biden presidency will be unrelenting and thorough. The money will be followed – and perp-walks will be commonplace viewing on the TV news.

But all is not lost for brain-dead Republican voters. "The Real Housewives of Convicted Republicans" will be the next through-the-roof-ratings reality show.

I am not convinced they will have learned the lesson.
