Barr tells Republicans Durham report won't be ready by election

Attorney General Bill Barr has begun telling top Republicans that the Justice Department’s sweeping review into the origins of the Russia investigation will not be released before the election, a senior White House official and a congressional aide briefed on the conversations tell Axios.

Why it matters: Republicans had long hoped the report, led by U.S. Attorney John Durham, would be a bombshell containing revelations about what they allege were serious abuses by the Obama administration and intelligence community probing for connections between President Trump and Russia.

“This is the nightmare scenario. Essentially, the year and a half of arguably the number one issue for the Republican base is virtually meaningless if this doesn't happen before the election," a GOP congressional aide told Axios.

Barr has made clear that they should not expect any further indictments or a comprehensive report before Nov. 3, our sources say.

Everyone knows there's no there there in the Durham investigation. Obama, Biden and Hillary are not going to be indicted to fulfill repug pipe dreams for the 2020 election and trump will lose badly and the Senate may also be lost.

Woohoo!

...no "spying" on Trump, and that the surveillance was of legitimate intelligence risks.

As those of us who haven't spent recent decades inFOXicated already knew.

Just as we suspected, zero zip zilch nada.

They are probably hoping no one brings it up so that it isn’t publicized that it was a nothing burger.
THAT would make them look like the conspiracy theorists that they are.

Instead of actually running on any actual issues. He'll, they were too cocky and lazy to bother creating a platform. Much less a health plan, a jobs plan, an environment plan, a COVID plan, etc. The Republican have earned every loss and deserve to be outcast for a generation.

News organizations should not continue this game of furthering GOP conspiracies and speculation.

republicans and barr KNOW there's nothing there, yet they continue to make announcements and drag it out, as if something is coming after election day.

It's not.

So what's the next best thing? To offer journalists disingenuous "tips" that will generate articles like this, which basically insinuate that crimes have occurred but that the investigation is still ongoing.

All this within 4 weeks of the election, mind you.
