Republican leaders join anti-Whitmer rally outside Capitol after FBI reports murder plot against her

Hours after news broke about a militia plot to kidnap and kill Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey (R-Clarklake) and State House Speaker Lee Chatfield (R-Levering) took to the Capitol steps during a right-wing anti-Whitmer rally Thursday.

“This is no time to be weak in our commitment to freedom,” Shirkey said to the crowd. “We need to be strong…and not be afraid of those who are taking our freedoms away from us.”

According to the Michigan Capitol website, the “Let MI People Go” rally was hosted by the Michigan’s Pastors’ Alliance, and Chatfield’s father, the Rev. Stanley Chatfield III, was listed as the contact person for the event.

“We condemn anyone who wants to incite violence in our community and our country because all lives matter,” Chatfield said during the rally.

As of Thursday evening, 13 men have been charged for what officials categorize as “extremist” plans to target Whitmer and to attempt to overthrow the state government. Federal officials charged six militia members on multiple counts for alleged acts of terrorism and state Attorney General Dana Nessel’s office charged seven more men under Michigan’s Anti-Terrorism Act.

With no real plot or threat of violence, yet they lost their motherfucking minds.

But a real viable actionable plot against a duly elected Governor?

Ah well that's fine.

Fuck these traitors.

I’ll have a hard time forgiving the Trump voters, third party people, and non-voters for unleashing this hell on us. Hopefully some people learned their lesson and will support Biden.

It's hard to say, but from the photos it doesn't look like the hundred or so people demonstrating for their inalienable right to die alone, surrounded by machines and strangers, were very careful about taking the usual countermeasures to avoid spreading Covid-19.

The small turnout and the demonstrators courting their own deaths are positive signs for the rest of Michigan.

Some of these peeps are going to prison. They don’t like it, and their allies are pitching a fit about it, but that’s not going to change anything. These peeps are guilty as sin, and prison is in their future.

So-called lawmakers defending the illegal plans of a bunch of vigilantes and terrorists on the steps of their own State Capitol.

These are not patriots. These are treason weasels, domestic terrorists. And Donald Trump has joined their ranks. He's been talking this morning, boasting that HIS Justice Department foiled the plot and that Governor Whitmer is still whining and complaining.

Kick these people to the curb. Trash, all of them!

Anyone who chooses to endanger the public by refusing to abide by reasonable public health guidelines overwhelmingly approved by medical experts should be considered a public enemy. Those who summarily defend the enemies of The People are complicit.

And that includes the "President."
