It's sobering that I felt relief and surprise to hear that the FBI had...

... done something so dramatic that was such a bad thing for Trump. I sort of knew that Trump couldn't replace everyone in government, but I'm glad to know there's still active life in the agencies that protect us.

If Trump is able to steal the election, the FBI is going to look like the Soviet military after one of Stalin's purges. I suspect, unless he is stopped, that he will try it after he loses anyway. The Federal government is going to have to pay millions (possibly billions) in wrongful termination suits.

Trump doesn’t steal the election, and he and his lackeys are about to get their asses purged—in the courts

I grew up in the 60s and, while I've never hated the FBI, I've never really trusted them either. It's not so much distrust as 'just never been a fan.' Complicated. Anyway. To depend on them in that 'help save the country' kind of way? I never thought I'd see the day. I don't think it's a product of getting older so much as the country has really changed. It's an interesting feeling to be on team "Go FBI!!" and feel absolutely okay with it. Wow.

This tells me they didn't politicize the entire department.
There's obviously still professionals there who do their job as it's meant to be done.
