But -- the sheriff is often an "elected official." Lots of places they run unopposed ... So, yeah. Somebody goes to a few Rotary Club meetings ... Registers for the "right" party. Takes someone's son-in-law hunting ... It's not that hard. And you occasionally get some real characters on the school board -- and as county sheriff!

Coming from a government official. Sheriff Dar Leaf Is publicly speculating on their defense which is an implicit argument of support. All the while insisting we should all wait for the facts to come out in the trial. They can't help but out themselves as the extremists they are.
