Retiring Kansas state Senate president steps in it this morning.

I expect a fly to land on her head any minute.

Kansas Senate President Susan Wagle (R) told donors that Republicans must maintain their #ksleg supermajority so they can create gerrymandered state & federal districts to undermine the will of voters & ensure complete Republican control of the state.

This is terrifying. The good news is that they only have a one-seat supermajority. All we need to protect democracy in Kansas is for Dems to pick up 1 seat. Here are some winnable races you can support right now to make sure Susan Wagle can’t Gerrymander our state:

I wondered if she was gone after she ran for the Senate seat and quit. I keep hearing her name but I guess she is still here until after the election? Whatever, that woman is poison. Most of the R's around here are as well but there are some who are reasonable and think for themselves, if only they would vote that way. Maybe with her gone they will, she is such a bully. (I think I read this wrong, she is still in? I have not heard much, my major source will not be back here until they go back to work.

primary race. I suspect she will be behind the scenes spending all that Koch money. This video has gotten her in a speck of trouble, though, at least this morning.

She is SO divisive and her manner with all things political is just abusive. Still, if we do not break that super majority it will remain this way. It seems such a long time ago when we could even talk to them. Hell, I lobbied LGBTQ rights with the Red Neck Rapper and even he was polite and kind about it all. Not that I did not have my foot slammed in a few doors but...it was better not all that long ago.

Then once they are in, they don't know how to govern. All they want is power.

Brownback tried this, tossed it to Kobach and our Supreme Court said no. Our current map seems fair to me if I am reading it right, the numbers almost are exactly the same for each district. It ended up being drawn by someone (god getting old is hard I cannot remember) who did it in a fair way. The map Brownback and his team of christo fascists was all over the place. It was all done just before the deadline.

The districts should be drawn by an independent organization based on population numbers only.

it says, "Gov. Laura Kelly said Friday she will ask the Kansas Legislature to create an independent redistricting commission."

We have done well with keeping it very even in this state. They are still the majority but that is not enough for them apparently.

Did she not know how her remarks would make the news? Too much power makes you careless I think.
