This sheriff is trying to claim that kidnap conspiracy might have been a "citizen's arrest." 🙄 Under Michigan law, someone making a citizen's arrest is required to inform the person they intend to arrest and the reason why. Which would preclude the need to secretly kidnap them.

This interview with a sitting sheriff in Michigan is absolutely wild.

I realize that it should be unnecessary to have to rebut this idiotic theory but I have a feeling this is going to become a talking point on Fox News and eventually end up in a Trump tweet, so here's the relevant section of the Michigan code: http://legislature.mi.gov/(S(gpnixrdgnksxoxqudvsxbdet))/mileg.aspx?page=getobject&objectName=mcl-764-20

Better yet, let's release all the personal possession prisoners to make room.

The State shouldn't hesitate in bringing back the old fashioned punishment for treason.

You're welcome.

The best part is you can get away with using this word in mixed company.

Thanks for the feedback.

it doesn't matter to him that they were planning on murdering LEOs too. I don't know why Barry County keeps re-electing that asshole. He's unfit for public service.

while screaming how they're just "defending their freedoms."

Just like religious whackos forcing their doctrine on others under the guise of "religious freedom."

I try not to hate, but damn, they make it hard.

under MI law.

That renegade sheriff's organization he belongs to reminds me that as fascism grew in local areas in Europe, not just regions and nations, even being suspected by fascistic neighbors of not being one of them became dangerous. The law was used to persecute those who didn't go along, businesses forced to close, people beaten on the streets by people they'd known for years, fires set, all with the approval of people in authority like these.
