In my Reds side of town that was the magic buzzword that would get you elected. More often than not it worked.
We had a young Republican running for Hamilton County Auditor several years ago. Plastered on his signs and on his TV commercials was "Conservative Leadership". Dude, much of the auditor's job is auditing scales and gas pumps then putting compliance stickers on them. Why add idiology to the mix? He lost.
I have yet to find the word conservative on yard signs and commercials. In fact the elephant logo hasn't been seen much as well.
I'm thinking that maybe the trumpion candidates are now way beyond conservative.
