(6,591 posts)9. I used to, but after several years of eating a lot my body rebelled.
Every day I ate tofu & a couple granola bars made from soybeans. I also liked Japanese food & stir fry so I consumed a fair amount of soy sauce. After several years of it I started feeling really bad & having periods of aphasia. I couldn't understand what people were saying & when I tried to talk I could only make babbling sounds, I couldn't form a word. It scared the hell out of me, I thought I had a stroke or a brain tumor but MRIs didn't show anything.
I went through several months of this & 3 doctors before one realized it could be due to a reaction like a food allergy & referred me to a specialist. Long story short, it turned out to be the soy. I had eaten so much of it over the years that my body had finally had enough & I started having bad reactions to it. Now I have to avoid it for the rest of my life. If I get a dose of soy it causes what I would describe as "severe gastrointestinal distress." It can feel like shards of glass going through my intestines & a few times I've ended up on the floor curled up in a fetal position yelling because it hurt so bad.
All because I had too much of it over too many years. My advice is to enjoy tofu (& all other products with soy, which seems to be about 90% of the things in a grocery store) in moderation!!!

(6,446 posts)10. Really anything
you eat that regularly will catch up to you. Many people have problems with wheat now, and Diabetes is skyrocketing (carbs and sugar). VARIETY and moderation are really important. And soybeans, if they're not organic, have had some horrific pesticides applied. i.e. You can't blame it on the soy. We all make choices...
