Bringing this subject up, science has been solidly predicting disaster for over 50 years now. Even mentioning we must make massive changes in the way we all get around brings scoffs of childish idiocy especially from those still driving their huge gashogs.
It 's way past time it hit major media outlets.

(5,332 posts)So in general, many natural disasters wouldn't be natural disasters if the affected areas weren't so heavily populated, and if the people who did live there were affluent enough to better protect themselves. And, of course, unchecked population growth is also the fundamental cause of climate change.
This principle applies to the human species as well as other animals. If only human reproduction (rather than prevention of reproduction) somehow required an active choice, the human population could be gradually reduced to a level this planet can comfortably support.

(12,712 posts)They found out recently that the radiation levels on the moon are so high that humans could only stay on the surface for up to two-months total, including the amount of radiation for the trip there and back.
After that, the levels start doing some damage because they are significant.
That seems to blow that idea.

(12,712 posts)It is just about length of stays.
Perhaps some form of shielding will be possible, but I haven't heard anything about that as a solution yet.
