Pedometer/Calorie help requested.

I downloaded a free online pedometer on my android phone. I thought it would not work very well, but I did a few test walks, and it is pretty accurate.

Yesterday, I reset it to zero and mowed my lawn with a walk behind mower. The lawn mow showed just under 12,000 steps, or about 5 miles on the pedometer.

It also showed 877 Kcals. I'm trying to covert this to calories on Google. It's confusing me. Some. Sites say 1 Kcal = 1 Calorie, another site said 877 kcals (with a small k) = something like 900,000 calories. Does anyone know how to convert Kcal to calories, or if a conversion is necessary?

Thanks.

1. 1 kcal is one "Calorie" with a capital C and that's the kind of Calorie you're interested in.

Technically, 1 kcal is 1000 calories with a lower case c but that concept of calorie is only used in chemistry.

The "calorie" we refer to in food is actually kilocalorie. One (1) kilocalorie is the same as one (1) Calorie (upper case C). A kilocalorie is the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of 1 kilogram of water one degree Celsius. Please visit USDA's Food Composition Laboratory for additional information.

.

Next thing you know, it's already 12Pm or 1PM.

Soon, you will find you lose a desire to eat and have to remind yourself.

Carbs are what drive hunger, and moving to fat & proteins eliminates hunger, liver & pancreas demands, and if using insulin, it reduces the amount needed.
